QUALITY CONTROL
Users of parts know that an alloy contamination with as little as .001% of
an element may be the cause of field failures. Anchor Bronze & Metals, Inc. takes
every precaution to ensure that our product meets all requirements of the specification
you order.
In the
continuous cast process die sizes are subject to final check prior to the job set up.
Samples of molten metal are taken from the furnace before being poured. This step is done
for every 2,000 pounds of product from one continuous run or at the beginning and end of a
smaller run. Finished product is once again subject to chemical and physical testing.
During final processing the material is Medart straightened and cut to length.
Dimensional checks are performed once again to measure casting tolerances, straightness
and concentricity.
All material is assigned heat numbers prior to being poured. All test
results for each individual heat number are logged and all product is cold stamped with
its corresponding heat number to ensure total mill traceability.
Certifications of chemical and physical test results are available.
Mill quality
control procedures are in accordance with MIL-I-45208A, the most
stringent procedures required by the United States Department of Defense for procurement
of Level I/Subsafe material. Anchor Bronze & Metals, Inc. supplies crucial materials
for shipbuilding, aviation, defense, mining, oil well drilling and many other industrial
applications.
Our metallurgical documentation department is capable of providing you
with the following services:
Chemical certification with mercury free statement.
Mechanical testing - Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and
hardness.
Longitudinal and transverse photomicrographs of casting cross sections.
